FY26 Term I Creation Grant [Single-Year Grant Program]

Business Overview
ASA-CHANG & Junray's music is sometimes heavy, distorted, and beautiful, and sometimes light, carefree, and incredibly cheerful. Its duality echoes the contemporary Japanese society of today, where people continue to hedonistically consume the benefits of an advanced capitalist society while simultaneously feeling anxious about its future stagnation and distortions. Its appeal embodies both popular appeal and a sharp critical eye toward its contemporary era, making it "true pop music." Furthermore, under consistent direction, ASA-CHANG & Junray perform live performances as "theatrical art," blending sound, performers, lighting, video, and dance. Despite their backgrounds as musicians, ASA-CHANG & Junray have maintained a critical stance and distanced themselves from the established music scene. Over three sessions, they collaborate with dancers, butoh artists, and filmmakers active in their respective fields to create and present music, further deepening their work and exploring new relationships between body and music, and video and music.
