Business Overview

This performance commemorates Akira Miyoshi, who passed away last October. Mr. Miyoshi, together with Azumagoshi, has devoted himself to the development and spread of choral art through many activities, including commissioned works, since the group's foundation. His influence was immense, and his vast works have become an important repertoire in choral art and are now actively performed. The program features four masterpieces ("To My Wife" poem by Toshiko TAKADA, "Tsukiya Sansho" poem by Chuya NAKAHARA, "Klee's Picture Book 2" poem by Shuntaro TANIGAWA, "Jomon Renkai" poem by Sakon SO) written by four poets representing modern and contemporary Japan, all of which are works by Miyoshi. Tokyo Mixed Choir conductor Kenji Otani will conduct the concert. Otani is one of Japan's leading choral conductors who is highly regarded for introducing colorful works from the Middle Ages to the present day and for his fluent conducting. Along with Michiko Asai's piano and the performance of the Tokyo Mixed Chorus, we would like to present the essence of Miyoshi's choral art.
