Business Overview
Can you do an opera with just four notes? A poignant one-act opera by minimal music icon Tom Johnson. It is a simple stage with only four singers and pianists, one for each part, and literally uses only four notes (including piano accompaniment), yet it achieves a very rich and "opera-like" performance. What is noteworthy is the presence of humor that seems unrelated to minimalism. It is also an excellent work as an introduction to modern music, which is often considered to be difficult. The lyrics are about the opera that is being performed right now. The original English is translated into French, Spanish, Galician, Korean and many other languages. For this performance in Tokyo, a Japanese translation was newly made, and the Japanese version will be the world premiere. In the first half, in addition to small works using Johnson's voice (including his latest works), an homage by Tomomi Adachi (a new commissioned work) was performed.
