Business Overview
In September and October 2013, they will hold overseas performances (Madrid, Rome, Paris) for the purpose of international cultural exchange. This work was performed in Tokyo. Contemporary art artist Hiroshi SUGIMOTO added his own interpretation to Monzaemon CHIKAMATSU's representative work, "Sonezaki Shinju Tsuki Kannon-mawari" (Sonezaki Shinju Tsuki Kannon-mawari), and under the direction and composition of Ningyo Joruri Bunrakuza's Seiji TSURUSAWA (shamisen: Living National Treasure), he handled the composition, direction, art and video. The primary purpose of the production is to completely revive CHIKAMATSU's original work, which is different from the current piece "Sonezaki Shinju," which is usually performed in bunraku performances, and by creating a bunraku direction that fuses modern art and traditional performing arts, he aims to communicate the possibilities of Japanese traditional performing art "bunraku" to the world and propose new ideas for Japanese culture.
