FY25 Phase I Creation Grant [Single-year grant program]

Business Overview

This project is to perform "Anton, cat, chestnut," one of Kaikai's representative works, in three cities in the United States. This musical drama depicts the daily lives and interactions between a real cat suffering from leukemia and people living within a 50 meter radius of the cat. Using musical score written by musician Yasuno Taro as a script, they start the world by performing everyday scenes with words and body. The original subtitle system, which is projected vertically and horizontally like Nico Nico Douga, solves the gap between the subtitles and the work and has a great effect on the production. The aim is to present to the world a way of performing arts that transcends the boundaries of genres in Tokyo today. This project, which will be the first performance in the United States, will further expand the possibilities of stage performances and joint creations in unexplored areas, and will also actively conduct research activities in order to interact with various people, including local artists.
