Business Overview

Two plays, "Aoi no Ue" and "Kantan," from Yukio MISHIMA's collection of plays' Modern Noh Plays' (all adapted from Noh yokyoku), will be performed in a world of only puppets. Modern Nohgaku-shu dramatizing the world of Noh called 'Yugen' has been created in various stages both in Japan and abroad, but by using 'puppets' instead of realistic expressions through the flesh and blood, it is possible to create a different world that is more rich and aesthetically pleasing. "I wonder if the flesh and blood meets Mishima's language in a good relationship ・・・ Perhaps the lifeless doll is more integrated with Mishima's language ・・・" Magosaburo YUKI, the chairperson of the troupe, 2011 said that only through the puppets can Mishima's unique ethereal world be filtered and strongly shifted into the imaginary world. With direction by Matsumoto Osamu, puppet art by Hayashi Seiichi, and music by Saito Neko, the play develops a more intense stage.
