Business Overview

Doi, who has long since quit acting, receives a play from a "stage director" who is recuperating in the United States for treatment of a chronic illness. It was written by a "director" who had a "strange fear" after seeing war images on social media while referring to Andrei Tarkovsky's film Sacrifice.
However, there was only one performance by Doi and other characters, and all performances were cancelled. An archive edition of "The Sacrifice of Imagination," in which each of the characters added comments to the original play, has been published.
In the form of a reading group and reproduction of a play, this "fake reading group play" deals with the relationship between war and representation, and challenges the meaning and responsibility of watching a play in a theater by allowing the audience to take pictures and watch the play while reading the play.
