"Plastic Shell Mounds" Exhibition: Escaping from Recycling

Business Overview
At a workshop held in 2023 led by the artist Masaki Fujihata, plastic waste from 40 families was collected for 6 weeks and sorted.
In this exhibition, monuments welded with these materials as plastic materials were produced and exhibited. Plastic packages disappear from view as soon as they are consumed, but the concept of this work is to transform them into "unforgettable objects" as shell mounds and to place them outside the cycle of recycling, in other words, to break free from the cycle of reincarnation.
In addition, a photo record of one day per family was stored in the plastic garbage in advance, so a 50 mm thick photo album was created and displayed using 688 pages of these photos.

Profile
【 "Super Sorting Garbage" Executive Committee 】
An organization that plans, produces and operates the "Super Sorting Garbage" art project led by Masaki Fujihata. It started with the realization that increasing the separation of garbage would eventually lead to archives instead of garbage.
In 2023, we held a workshop focusing on the separation of plastic waste, which continues to increase rapidly, and in 2025, we produced "plastic shell mounds" to clarify the existence of plastic waste.
The movement continues with the recognition that art can play an important role as a place to collaborate with multiple plastic companies.
