Profile
[Gei-za Theater]
In 1993, the Department of Japanese Dance (Department of Japanese Music, School of Music, Department of Japanese Dance) was established for the first time at Tokyo University of the Arts, thanks to Yoshijiro HANAYAGI, the fifth (present Jusuke HANAYAGI, the fourth) who had been lobbying the Agency for Cultural Affairs for many years. Graduates of the school established the Gei-za in 2006 with the aim of spreading Japanese dance to a wide range of generations and creating a stage full of entertainment that had never existed before.
