FY2024 2nd Startup Grant

Business Overview

Three workshops and sessions were held at Ebihara Shoten, a flagship building in Kanda, to share the improvised ideas that Yugami had found through groping and collaboration in previous performance sessions. I experienced how to play and communicate with dancers and the environment in the limited freedom. In addition, on the last day of the festival, there was an opportunity to have a show, where the director and choreographer Shimazaki Asami, who is active both in Japan and overseas, spent three weeks producing and presenting site-specific works tailored to Ebihara Shoten with a variety of unique performers.

Profile

[Yugami]
Yugami is a performance session started in December 2023 with 3 dancers led by Ayano Otaki in the tilted garden of New Awaya. In an uneven environment, they coexist with the weather, the sound of traffic, and the atmosphere of the city, but as an alien presence, they have created a distortion in everyday life.
It has been held about 14 times, welcomed various dancers, and after 2 collaboration projects, the latest Yugami core members are 3, Kazuki Ishiyama, Ayano Otaki, and Rina Kato.
