Business Overview

This project held the exhibition "House with internal organs" using the architectural space as a support body at the Softhouse Minowa, which is a wooden three-story tenement house. A number of contemporary artists participated in the exhibition, which likened houses to bodies through sculptures, installations and drawings. The works were arranged in such a way as to penetrate each floor and level, and the viewers were able to experience the works while walking around the inside of the building. Yuto Nemoto was in charge of planning, curation and venue management, and during the exhibition the entire space was opened to the general public. This project was an attempt to show the possibility of connecting private space and expression activities in cities.

Profile

【 Softhouse Minowa 】
Softhouse Minowa is an alternative space that doubles as a place to live and present, based in a wooden three-story tenement in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo. Mainly managed by Yuto Nemoto, the museum has continuously held exhibitions, presentations and experimental trials focusing on contemporary art while opening up the space for daily living. It is characterized by expressions that actively accept imperfections and softness of buildings and use space itself as a support. It explores the possibility of small-scale cultural activities in cities as a place to receive individual practices that are difficult to be recovered by institutions and commercialities.
