Business Overview

The Seras Saxophone Quartet 1st Tour in Tokyo was held with the aim of exploring the possibilities of the saxophone instrument while taking into account the framework of "reproduction art" that classical music has. Focusing on programming with an emphasis on French music, which is behind the development of classical saxophone, the author examined original works of quartets and contemporary works that premiered in Japan, and searched for new ways of expression that can be created only with limited compositions. For the main programs “Suite Dolly ” and“ Ma Mer Lois ”, the orchestra commissioned composer Koichi Ohashi to arrange the music, and by performing together with pianist Osamu Okada, who specializes in French works, the orchestra aimed to present a new musical expression different from orchestral works, making the most of the saxophone's playing technique and various tones.
