"Social Grant" subsidizes artistic activities in which people from various social environments can participate together and demonstrate their creativity while respecting each other's individuality, as well as activities that take advantage of the characteristics of art and culture to tackle various social and urban issues. The purpose of this program is to raise the new meaning of art and culture in society, to promote pioneering activities that promote art that is open to all, and to support activities that steadily contribute to solving problems with a long-term perspective.

採択概況 [PDF]
◆ Number of applications (number of applications): 58 (16)
The number of applications for this fiscal year was 58, the second highest ever, and more than 70% of them, 43, were first-time applications. This fiscal year, we have established a policy to focus on supporting projects that address disparities in children's opportunities to appreciate and experience art. 36 projects, or more than 60% of the total number of applications, were eligible. In addition, a wide range of social issues were addressed, such as the empowerment of people mentally and physically, the creation of an environment for people with disabilities to express themselves and appreciate music, and the resolution of loneliness and isolation. As a result of the review, 16 projects were selected, of which 10 were priority projects. In addition, five projects were selected as multi-year priority support projects. Two projects were newly selected: a project to promote interaction and coexistence among diverse children through dance, and a project to create a performance model in which persons with disabilities can participate independently.
In the review, we made a comprehensive judgment from the viewpoints of planning, pioneering and originality, spread of effects, and continuous development. In addition, in the priority support projects, we focused on whether the situation of the target child is understood in advance, whether a system for reaching the target person is sufficiently established, and whether the contents of the projects are appropriate and rational for improving the problem.
