【Event】metote-lab | Cultural Center Program "Metote Open Day"

"metote-lab" is a laboratory in which deaf people, deaf people, and CODA (hearing people with deaf parents) who speak visual language (Japan sign language) take the lead in creating a place for emergence (home) based on each person's senses and language. We carry out various projects on the theme of cultivating a natural culture consisting of visual language.

metote-lab is implementing various projects on the theme of cultivating a natural culture consisting of visual language. Utilizing the working space "5005" based on sign language and visual language, as part of disseminating "natural culture born from zero," we hold a monthly "Metote Open Day" to experimentally open up bases to the town (*).

"DeafSpace" is a space designed to be comfortable for Deaf people based on the physical sensations of sign language. Relax and watch images, sit and take a break, chat with staff members ... How about opening your senses by looking at the visual language in everyday life?

In FY2025, we aim to further expand the scope of the metote-lab 's activities to become a place where people of various generations can gather, such as learning about the activities of each project, consulting on their daily activities, and experiencing a lifestyle culture rooted in the community.

*In July 2025, the name was changed from "5005 Open Day" to "Meto Tate Open Day."
