【 Open call 】Tokyo Artist Accelerator Program (TAAP) 3rd term supporting artists

A program to support young artists in the field of art and video who aim for independent and continuous activities

Focusing on the presentation of the work by the artist himself, it supports from both sides of improving the ability to talk about the work and strengthening the concept.
In addition to providing highly flexible production support funds to selected supporting artists, the program provides continuous mentoring over eight months with diverse specialists in contemporary art and creates opportunities for young artists originating in Tokyo to make international strides by giving speeches to people in contemporary art in Japan and overseas.

Target Artists

All the requirements listed in the following items shall be satisfied.

  1. Individuals who live in Japan and want to work in Tokyo
  2. Must be able to participate in networking events, midterm briefings, and mentoring and presentation opportunities during the following fiscal year (April to November 2026).
  3. Be able to communicate in Japanese. (JL PT: N1 Equivalent)
  4. In the subject field (art/video), 3 years or more but less than 10 years have passed since the first time a work was exhibited (Individual exhibitions, group exhibitions, etc.) in Tokyo. Or, you must have exhibited your work in Tokyo at least 5 times and no more than 10 times. However, University exhibitions shall not be included in group exhibitions.

1. Payment of production support funds

We will provide a production support fund (495,000 yen) that can be used for creative works and research.

2.Presentation based mentoring program

The selection committee consists of gallerists, artists, collectors, curators, and other contemporary art specialists with diverse backgrounds, as well as mentors. It encourages artists to improve their storytelling skills and strengthen their concepts, supports the growth of supporting artists, and supports networking with people involved in arts and culture in Japan and abroad.

3.Creation of "TAAP Live" presentation stage

Taking advantage of the opportunities of art events held in Tokyo, we will create opportunities for artists to talk about their works (stage presentations and presentations) to audiences including gallerists, curators and collectors in Japan and abroad.

*The personal information entered in the application form and application documents will be properly managed in accordance with the regulations concerning the protection of personal information of the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture. However, the information may be provided to external experts and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for review and evaluation. In addition, we may send you a questionnaire about the activities of supporting artists and the activities of Arts Council Tokyo.
