The "Metote Lab" is a laboratory that aims to create a place (home) for the emergence of each individual's senses and language, with the main participants being Deaf people, people with hearing loss, and CODAs (people with Deaf parents) who speak visual language (Japanese Sign Language). We are conducting various projects with the theme of cultivating a natural culture consisting of visual language.
Under the theme of "Preserving the Natural Living Culture of Sign Language," the Archive Project has been conducting research and discussions on new archiving methods for sign language and the living culture of Deaf people and their use.

About "Let's learn about creating places"

Mr. Atsushi Matsumoto, who has been involved in collecting 8mm films and planning screenings in various regions, will introduce several case studies focusing on "creating a place" that elicits memories and stories from participants. You can actually watch the video and ask questions from the participants.
We aim to create new awareness and dialogue by delving into specific ways of collecting words and keeping records.
