"metote-lab" is a laboratory in which deaf people, deaf people, and CODA (hearing people with deaf parents) who speak visual language (Japan sign language) take the lead in creating a place for emergence (home) based on each person's senses and language. We carry out various projects on the theme of cultivating a natural culture consisting of visual language.
The Archive Project is conducting research and discussions on new archival methods and utilization of the life culture of deaf people who use sign language under the theme of "Preserving the Natural Life Culture Born from Sign Language".
About "Let's learn about creating places"
Mr. Atsushi Matsumoto, who has been involved in collecting 8mm films and planning screenings in various regions, will introduce several case studies focusing on "creating a place" that elicits memories and stories from participants. You can actually watch the video and ask questions from the participants.
We aim to create new awareness and dialogue by delving into specific ways of collecting words and keeping records.
