【 Held 】 Hands-on exhibition where you can communicate your mental imagination with your eyes and teeth "Imaginary!"

This is an exhibition by "metote-lab", a project in which deaf people, deaf people, and CODA (hearing people with deaf parents) who speak in visual language (Japan sign language) take the lead and create a place for communication to emerge based on their own senses and language with people with different physicalities and sensory worlds.
The keyword of this exhibition, "Imaginary," refers to the imaginary world in our heads. And a person who uses his hands and body to "imagine and connect with each other" is called an "imaginator". This exhibition aims to cultivate the imagination of participants by becoming "imaginators" who enjoy grasping their "imaginations" and communicating them to others with their hands and bodies.

Program

We will be showing four video works by artists of the Deaf who express their imagination with their hands and bodies.

■ Adventures of a Little Person
A "little person" who walks with his fingers travels the world.

■ Change
The expression of the body and hands that can become various things such as sweets, weather and animals is the highlight.

■ Imaginary Story
Four artists receive the imagination of the person before them and expand the story like a relay.

■ Playing Catch with Imaginary
The viewer and the artist in the video play catch with the ball in the imagination.

Worktable

There is a permanent corner where you can experience "taming each other" with your hands and body using communication kits and games under development.

Workshop

(1) Imaginary! (No need to apply/free participation fee)
This is a workshop where you can discover the joy of communicating through play by using your hands and body to convey the images that come from simple shapes to people around you.

② Imaginary for parents and children! (Application required/free entry fee)
In conjunction with the video works, parents and children can express and communicate their imaginations by creating a small version of themselves with their fingers and exploring the venue, or by throwing imaginary balls.
