【 Call for Participation 】Tokyo Art Research Lab (TARL) | A special project to open a new route "For the Future Route"

Date & Time
Tuesday, February 24, 2026
Venue
Arts Council Tokyo Large Meeting Room, Online

Over the past decade or so, the social situation surrounding us has changed rapidly. A variety of art projects were created in response to new challenges arising from situations that were impossible to grasp with conventional thinking. But these situations are not going to come to an end, and we will continue to encounter new situations that will force us to reassess our footing and renew our way of life. What kind of art projects are required in this era of rapid change?

As part of the Tokyo Art Research Lab, the series "Opening a New Passage" started in 2022. While looking back on art projects that have emerged since 2011 and the social conditions surrounding them, we have considered the shape of art projects that will respond to the times of the future through the production of video materials centering on the narratives of art project practitioners, seminar style exercises, and the creation of a timeline centering on art projects and society.

In this project, we will review the series as a whole, introduce the production process and functions of the art project chronology * of tarl.jp, and discuss its potential. In addition, based on the connections, transitions, and expansions between society and art projects that have come to light in the course of each program, we will consider the shape of art projects in the future and the places for learning that will support them.
* Latest update scheduled for February 20
