It is a workshop to create expressions by looking at the remaining records or making new records. It started in 2022 and this is the 4th term.
We start by listening to people who practice expressions based on past records, and by looking at and discussing those expressions. Then, we actually set a theme based on the interest of the participants themselves, and search for expressions created from records related to that theme. We also introduce talking or listening into the process to face the record with diverse perspectives.
There are no restrictions on presentation techniques such as reports, plans for exhibitions and projects, pictures, texts, photographs, videos, performances, installations, etc., but on the last day there will be an exhibition. However, it is not necessary to complete it as a work, but to create a form in order to share one's interests with others and have a dialogue.
It is recommended for those who record things on a daily basis, those who are interested in listening and researching, and those who want to make a production that involves these processes.
*The contents of the program are subject to change.
Workshop Flow
Saturday, July 19
In the first half, we will have a lecture on "Expression from Recording" and a workshop on listening and writing. In the second half, we will see an artist's practice of "creating expression from records," and then we will discuss and try to create expression ourselves.
Saturday, July 26
We will go to the Tokyo Metropolitan Daigo Fukuryu Maru Exhibition Hall in Yumenoshima, Koto-ku, for research, listen to the stories of the practitioners, and then create a small exhibition with each person's hands. Also think about your interests and future research.
Based on the activities of the above two days, they will work on their own. They go to talk to people they are interested in and look up materials, and then they try to create expressions based on their own production methods.
Saturday, August 2 and 3rd (Sun)
Free consultation days. As you work through your practice, you can speak with a facilitator as needed. You can also go online.
Sunday, September 7
Bring your own expression and discuss.
※ The previous day 6th (Sat) will be the delivery work day.
