Performance Kids Tokyo Call for Performers

Would you like to create an original stage production with dancer, choreographer, and director Ikko Tamura of the dance company "Dairakudakan"?
On the last day, Sunday, August 17, there will be an announcement performance at Komae Ekorma Hall.

About Performance Kids Tokyo

Professional dance, theater and music artists are sent to schools, halls and orphanages for about 10 days to hold workshops and create original stage productions starring children.

Artist

Ikko Tamura (Dairakudakan dancer, choreographer and director)

In 1998, he entered the Daelakudakan and studied under Seji MARO. After that, he appeared in all works of Dairakudakan. In 2008, he went to France to study under the Agency for Cultural Affairs' overseas study program for up-and-coming artists. He is also actively engaged in creating works based on local culture and climate, and continues to publish many works. In addition, buto workshops and outreach programs targeting a wide range of audiences, from children to the elderly, have been held in various locations and have been well received. He was awarded the 34 Dance Critics Association Newcomer Award and the 73 Arts Encouragement Dance Category Newcomer Award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Dairakudakan ... is a dance company founded in 1972 under the leadership of Mao Akaji. He named his style Tenputenshiki (great talent is born in this world), collected and constructed 'gestures and hand gestures' that were always forgotten, and created many works and performed them in Japan and abroad. Their appearance, such as whitewashing and shaving hair, is eye-catching, but their underlying ideas continue to influence many people, not only in the world of art but also in a wide range of genres.

• If there are many applicants, we will draw lots. (* However, those who have not experienced Performance Kids Tokyo will be given priority.)
