*This symposium was held as part of "AMIT 2014" at Art Fair Tokyo 2014.

Art has created new expressions by incorporating the latest technologies of each era. Today, not only do artists make use of a variety of everyday devices, but the latest technology has ushered in an era in which anyone can express themselves as they wish. This new form of creation, called "personal fabrication," is producing creators from Japan all over the world who connect art, technology, and craft. Media art, which can be said to be at the forefront of this, expands expression through the joining and collaboration of old and new media, and further transforms urban landscapes through participatory projects in the streets. Under the theme of art × technology × craft, we will have people active in various fields of media art talk about cities and art, and explore the unknown creative power of Japanese media art.
