Partnering with the Berlin International Film Festival to foster "Talent (=Talents, Talents)" in the video field

In cooperation with the Berlin International Film Festival, we aim to foster "Talent (=Talents, Talents)" who have the potential to become the next generation of masters, in order to strengthen the creation and transmission of culture from Tokyo in the field of film, and provide them with the opportunity to build know-how and an international network to be active in the world.

Talents Tokyo 2025

Young filmmakers and producers from Asia are invited to Tokyo for a week-long workshop that includes lectures from front-line professionals such as those involved in the Berlin International Film Festival, and presentations to filmmakers. Through this workshop, the aim is to build know-how and networks that will enable filmmakers to be active around the world.

Program

Up to 17 selected participants ("Talents") will go through the full program:

A. Viewing films and participating in a Q&A session at the 26th Tokyo Filmex
(b) Attending lectures/master classes (special classes) and other lectures by experts
C. Planning Review Committee

Each talent announces a project they want to make into a movie. The project is discussed with the main experts (four directors, producers, international sales and Berlinale talent managers), and the excellent project is selected and awarded by the examination committee composed of the main experts.

Eligibility

A person who meets all of the following conditions

  1. (1) Persons of East Asia or Southeast Asia (regardless of the country of current residence), or (2) Nationalities other than (1) above, who reside in East Asia or Southeast Asian countries at the time of application and during the Talents Tokyo Period, and have not participated in Talents Tokyo in the past, understand the application terms and conditions (English version) mentioned in the next paragraph, and fill in the application materials in English. Those who can submit online
  2. Those who can understand all programs in English and are willing to participate in programs conducted in English.
  3. Those who can participate in all the programs held in Tokyo during the exhibition and can stay at the accommodations specified by the organizers
    Those who aim to become a professional film director or film producer and meet any of the following requirements
    (a) Aspiring director: Those who have directed at least one short film and have directed less than three feature films
    (b) Aspiring producer: Those who have produced at least one short film in the past
    * Participation in groups is not allowed.
