A program to support young artists in the field of art and video who are aiming for independent and continuous activities. Focusing on the presentation of the artist's work, it supports both the improvement of the ability to talk about the work and the reinforcement of the concept.

2026 Tokyo Artist Accelerator Program (TAAP)

In addition to providing highly flexible production support funds to selected supporting artists, the project provides continuous mentoring over eight months with diverse specialists in contemporary art and creates opportunities for young artists originating in Tokyo to make international strides.

Target Artists

All the requirements listed in the following items shall be satisfied.

  • Individuals who live in Japan and want to work in Tokyo
  • Must be able to participate in networking events, midterm briefings, and mentoring and presentation opportunities during the following fiscal year (April to November 2026).
  • Be able to communicate in Japanese. (JL PT: N1 Equivalent)
  • In the subject field (art/video), 3 years or more but less than 10 years have passed since the first time a work was exhibited (Individual exhibitions, group exhibitions, etc.) in Tokyo. Or, you must have exhibited your work in Tokyo at least 5 times and no more than 10 times. However, University exhibitions shall not be included in group exhibitions.

Target Artists

  • Individuals living in Japan who wish to be active in the Tokyo art market
  • Be available for networking events, midterm briefings, mentoring and presentations (TAAP Live).
  • Adequate ability to communicate in Japanese. (Japanese Language Proficiency Test JLPT: N1 Equivalent)
  • It has been 3 years or more but less than 10 years since the first exhibition of works in the subject field was held in Tokyo. Or, you have exhibited your works in Tokyo (personal exhibitions, etc.) 5 times or more and 10 times or less.
