Tokyo Smart Culture Project

We will create "An environment where anyone can enjoy arts and culture anytime, anywhere" through the development of information and communications infrastructure at metropolitan cultural facilities, the utilization of collections by expanding databases, the planning and development of digital programs, and the creation of new viewing experiences utilizing cutting-edge technologies.

Enhancement of digital archives

Promote the establishment of a system for online disclosure of materials stored in six metropolitan museums (Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum, Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Garden Art Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art) and the expansion of materials disclosure. The Tokyo Museum Collection (ToMuCo) is a database that allows users to search the collections of the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum and Art Museum. In addition, we will digitize stored materials and precious materials and release 3D data.

Development of new programs utilizing ICT

Based on the improvement of the information environment and the establishment of digital archives, we plan and develop new programs that actively utilize ICT. Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum smartphone application “Hyper Edo-Haku ” and Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum web application“ Open Air Architectural Museum Navi ” will be used to develop educational contents, and the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan will provide music appreciation support utilizing video technology.
