Traveling Research Laboratory - Field Work and Outcome - Research Presentation

Genre:
  • Art Project

The Traveling Research Laboratory is an ongoing project, a group research around various issues of fieldwork methodologies. The keyword for the third year of the project is the Latin word “Nodus”, which has multiple meanings such as “contact point”, “knot”, “entanglement”, and “difficult phase ”. The research takes place in Ogasawara Islands(Bonin Islands), where its historical and cultural complexity intersects. The islands lie 24 hours and 1000km away by boat from Tokyo’s Takeshiba terminal. The project focuses on different perspectives of 3 researchers; how they interact and influence each other. Also the documentation of the process was another challenge for the group to consider. At the presentation, the members of the research laboratory would reflect their research by introducing the process of the trip from the preparations and the course of their 12-day journey.
