Business Overview
Its two purposes are tradition and creativity in shakuhachi music. The first is to ensure the orthodox transmission of Tosan-ryu shakuhagaku, and the second is to create new shakuhagaku. Professional musicians belonging to the Tosan-ryu school gathered and invited Hosanshi NOMURA (Living National Treasure), who was active at the forefront, as a music director, with the aim of passing down the basic style of performance of the Tosan-ryu school and reinvigorating creative activities for shakuhachi by performing pieces published from the Meiji period to the Showa period. In the third event, the master played the solo part of the Tozan-ryu school honkyoku first, and the students played it in response. In addition, focusing on ostinato, a technique used in composing music, research and performances of works created by Western musicians and Japanese music composers and performers were conducted. The aim was to further promote the attractiveness of shakuhachi, to make shakuhachi music more familiar, and for the members to become shakuhachi players and instructors leading shakuhachi music in the future.

Profile
[Tozan-ryu Shakuhachi Pozan-kai Bamboo Shinsengumi]
Tozan-ryu Shakuhachi Pozan-kai held a series of performances titled "The Sound of Bamboo" and received a special award at Nagoya Citizens' Art Festival in 2018. Taking this opportunity, he selected professional musicians and young musicians with the same aspirations from the members. Established in 2020 as a new group based in Tokyo that presents the appeal of shakuhachigaku with the two causes of "handing down the Miyakozan-ryu Honkyoku" and "creating a new shakuhachigaku." In 2023, his members won the first to fourth prizes in the 47 th Tosan-ryu Honkyoku Contest.
