Business Overview

In this project, our association and Associate Professor Takenori Miyamoto of the Tokyo University of the Arts have collaborated from the perspective of art and solving social issues. With Ryoichi Wago, a leading contemporary poet, as the main artist, foreign women living in Japan have collected various mental images during pregnancy and child-rearing, and have created a multilingual "collection of poems (with illustrations)" focusing on "the fundamental things that all mothers have in common." The collection was distributed to families with overseas roots raising children, people interested in multicultural coexistence, and related organizations, and two recitations were held. In 2023, the Tokyo Art Theater collaborated with Miyamoto Sensei in the shadow art project (with the cooperation of our association) and turned interviews with 4 foreign women living in Japan into shadow art, which resonated with many people. This time, we focus on the feelings of mothers in Myanmar who left their homeland due to political instability.

Profile

【 NPO Mother's Tree Japan】
our association was established in 2020 as an NPO to support foreign women living in Japan with their pre-and post-natal care and multicultural childrearing. They support women who come to Japan for various reasons and give birth and raise children in a foreign country, and at the same time, they work to create a multicultural society centered on "babies," "new lives," and "raising children."
