Business Overview

This project was carried out mainly in the course of a Japanese language course at a university and in workshops on zashiki-mai and taizukai for the general public. All of the events are free of charge, and they are characterized by the fact that they are as close as possible to the daily life of the Edo and Meiji periods, such as live performances of jiuta and sangen (three stringed instruments), and dancing in white lacquered Japanese hair and cuffed costumes, and that the events for the general public are all performed in Italian except for jiuta. Various programs were performed; first, Tsurujo KIRISAKI performed 'Nagoya-obi,' a beautiful costume with Japanese hair and irotome kimono (the song and sangen were recorded by Nao OHARA); next, Tsurumaru or Suzume performed 'Matsuzukushi,' a male dance with a gift ceremony in ordinary irotome kimono (the song and sangen were performed live by Tsurujo or Tsurumaru); and finally, Tsurujo performed 'Tamatori,' a hongyomono (a traditional dance) with Japanese hair and kurodome kimono (the song and sangen were recorded by Nao OHARA). The audience had plenty of time to interact with the audience, including a 20 minute question-and-answer session, a 45 minute workshop on how to use the body in Italian, and the Sakura Sakura dance.
