Business Overview

In 2023, as a work commissioned by the Vienna Arts Week, Cherfitsch/Okada Toshinori and Fujikura Dai collaborated for the first time to create a "new musical theater," which had its world premiere in Vienna. He pursued a new "musical theater" that is different from the traditional musical theater and opera in which either theater or music is the main character. The work was composed by six actors from Cherfitsch and seven performers from the world's top contemporary music ensemble, Klangform Vienna. It begins with the story of a family that is about to be thrown out of their home, but the problem is solved when the house itself is wiped out by a powerful force beyond the reach of human intelligence. An overwhelming presence outside the human world dominates the performance, and a completely new world emerges on the stage. Following on from Cherfitsch's previous work Eraser Mountain, this film depicts a world that deviates from anthropocentrism. Last time he explored a new relationship between people and objects with artist and sculptor Teppei Kinji, but this time he worked with Fujikura to create a new relationship between theater and music.
