Reiwa 5(2023) Creation Grant Category III Projects that contribute to the improvement of the artistic creative environment [Long-term grant] [Single-year grant 1st term]

Business Overview

Focusing not on external factors that hinder a sustainable creative environment, but on the inner creative environment itself, such as our own bodies and minds, we set various themes and held a total of six online lectures (including viewing archived videos). The titles and lecturers of each course are Naoki Sugawara and Nanako Nakajima of "Aging and Stage Expression"; Akira Amagasaki of "Performing Arts and Play"; Yasumasa Asano of "Baby Theater"; Shoji Tanaka of "Theater from the Perspective of Neuroscience"; Toshiya Yoshimi of "Archive: Its Creativity and Future Orientation"; and Gi Uchino of "Public Nature and Public Sphere of Performing Arts". The intermingling of voices from the field, with artists taking the stage and sometimes raising issues, led to a real understanding and awareness for the participants. After each lecture, a meeting is held and a preliminary report is released. After all lectures are completed, a collection of reports is made available for free. It stimulated consideration of a sustainable creative environment for the performing arts in the future and provided an opportunity to reconsider the social value of the performing arts and their potential to transform the nature of human beings and society.
