Business Overview
This is a continuation of the artist residency that Music from Japan started as a new trial in 2016. Music critics and composers from Japan and the United States were invited to participate in the event to contribute to mutual understanding and artistic enlightenment between participants from both countries through lectures, concerts, and post-concert forums. 1) Composition Seminar: Chiharu WAKABAYASHI and Mayuko KAWASAKI's "Approach to Composition and Introduction of Their Own Works" 2) Lecture: Koichi NISHI "History and Present of Contemporary Music in Japan" Concert I: "Contemporary Music in Japan: Past and Present" (selected by Koichi NISHI) 3) Concert II: "Recent Japanese Sound IV" (a collection of works by Chiharu WAKABAYASHI, Mayuko KAWASAKI, and Mitsuyoshi FUKUMARU)

A voluntary organization established in New York to promote the business of Music From Japan, Inc., which introduces Japanese contemporary music, classical and contemporary Japanese music to the United States and the world. Over the past 49 years, she has commissioned music from Japanese composers, and has held concerts and educational programs in New York, Washington, D.C., the United States, Central America, and Central Asia.
