Business Overview

The festival was started to expand the possibilities of documentary. The person making the film, the person appearing in it, and the person watching it all spend a once-in-a-lifetime time in the same space. This time, they talked and recorded what they recalled through the video. Fukuda Pero, who filmed the songs and dances of indigenous people living in Africa's Great Lakes region; Kotaka Takuro, who examines new expressions in regions facing social problems; Matsui Itaru and Sato Kohei, who are trying to revitalize their communities through documentaries as a new form of "folklore,"; Asada Wataru, a cultural activist who has been supporting disaster-stricken areas through music; Iida Masashige, who talked about "the role of filming existence," and Doku Attan (Kitazumi Hiroki and Kubota Toru), who works with Myanmar filmmakers who continue to make films despite escaping oppression. In addition, short films by curators Atsushi Kuwayama and rikeylittleforest, which have not yet been shown in Japan, and new photographs by photographer Ryo Kameyama, who documents conflict areas, were exhibited.

With the aim of proposing a new way of documentary to society, making documentary a culture, and creating the ideal environment for filmmakers by ourselves, we produce video works and organize events. Established in 2017, it holds a documentary every year in Shinagawa, Tokyo. While creating experiential documentaries that are different from broadcast and theater, he is exploring new forms of expression that are connected to society. The film has been released online, on TV and in movies, as well as on the website of British magazine Gardian.
