Business Overview
Tadayoshi HIMEDA (September 10, 1928 - July 29, 2013), a film director and film folklorist, passed away 10 years ago in 2023. Since the period of high economic growth, he has been involved in the production of 270 documentary films in order to capture on film the folk-culture of various parts of Japan, which has been lost before our eyes. This is a legacy of humanity that can never be filmed again. The project selected 23 films and screened them for 6 days. Nine guests were invited to talk about Himeda's works from various angles. This gave rise to an opportunity to critically reevaluate Himeda's work and to pass it on to younger generations.

Profile
[Institute of Folk Culture Images]
Established in 1976. The deep correspondence and symbiosis with nature that has been cultivated over a long period of history is considered to be "base culture," and it has been tried to clarify this by looking at people's daily activities with the Japanese archipelago as the axis. So far, he has produced 119 films and 150 videos.
