Business Overview
Akigawa Art Stream has grown from the "Hinohara Art Project" which was started in 2022 in Hinohara Village, the only village in Nishitama at the headwaters of the Akigawa River, and is now an art project focusing on contemporary art through excursion type exhibitions and experiential planning with 6 venues located throughout the Akigawa River, the largest tributary of the Tama River. Expectations for the event have been growing year by year, especially among people living in the watershed area, and this time, the implementation area was expanded to Akiruno City in addition to Hinohara Village. In addition to artists working in Tama, such as village resident Kyoki Sugaya (contemporary art), Tsubasa Naruse (media art), Neishiin (sculpture), and Nanaakuya (design and craft), the organizers (Creative Cluster), a purely private intermediate support platform, curated artists from all over the country, such as Kyunchome (contemporary art), Miyakemai (contemporary art), Makoto Tezuka (film), and Kaofu Onishi (painting), who resonate the "goodness of yama". Using old folk houses and storehouses provided by local residents as the venue, exhibitions and experiences (live performances, workshops, etc.) that make people love being in the community and therefore co-create with the community were developed. In this project as well, a number of new uses were created in which properties owned by local residents and the public that had not been used became venues, and owners and residents used them as places for new initiatives after the event.

Profile
[General Incorporated Association Creative Cluster]
The Do-Tank was started in 2002 by current president Tomohiro Okada, who has been working on regional development and creating new uses utilizing his creativity since he was a high school student, as a platform to create a place for expanding possibilities through art and innovation, and the advancement and revitalization of society. We have been working to introduce, exchange, and utilize new expressions and their emergence through exhibitions, workshops, and project support that propose lifestyles. In 2022, the "Arts Center Hinohara" was opened in the mountainous area of Tokyo called Nishitama, and under the theme of "things that are good to have in Tokyo in the future," it is developing an emergent field through co-creation with the local community.
