Profile
【 Hijikata-Nakanishi Memorial Saruhashi Warehouse Steering Committee 】
This project was started by paying attention to the avant-garde activities of the 1960's including the dancer Tatsumi Hijikata who is a pioneer of the happening in Japan, in addition to the happening movement in New York represented by Alan Caplow. While introducing the avant-garde of the 1960s stage by watching recorded footage of Hijikata's performances, I was able to step through and develop the experimental expression of dancers who are pursuing their own dance and physical expression in modern Japan in the 2020s through two presentations in July and October. In addition, he invited Mexican dancers who held the "Tatsumi Hijikata Exhibition" in Mexico from October to November this year to demonstrate and film Mexico's unique avant-garde dance. In this project, the discovery of the vivid body and the pursuit of various styles of expression became a project in which the expansion and possibilities could be found through the creation in the base and the practice in the public place.
