FY2023 1st Term Grant for Artistic City

Business Overview
Set against the backdrop of America's changing society from the 1950s to the 1990s, the musical is an outstanding musical with intelligence, wit, and beautiful melodies, performed by only two actors, focusing on the "family" of brothers, sisters, parents, and children. This play, which was performed in the world's two major theatrical cities, Broadway and West End, to great acclaim, was performed for the first time in Japan. We performed with the aim of recovering the entertainment market and revitalizing the entertainment industry in the post-COVID-19 era, as well as conveying the appeal of Japanese theater from Tokyo to Japan, New York, and London. Direction, translation, lyrics and choreography were provided by Ichikawa Yojiro, winner of the 2023 Odajima Yushi Drama Translation Award. Featuring leading musical stars Win Morisaki and Bansei Tashiro as John and Seiko Niizuma and Megumi Hamada as Jen, it was performed in four different cast combinations, with both John and Jen cast as double casts.
