Business Overview

The 24 th Tokyo Filmex was held for 8 days from November 19 to 26th at Yurakucho Asahi Hall Human Trust Cinema Yurakucho. 20 films were introduced to Japanese audiences, with a focus on the latest Asian filmmakers who have become the talk of the town at film festivals around the world. Vietnamese director Pham Tien Anh's "Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell" won the best film in the competition, while Mongolian director Zoljargar Prevdashi's "If I Can Only Hibernate" won the Special Jury Prize and Audience Award. The film "GIFT" directed by Ryusuke HAMAGUCHI, which was screened in the Special Invitation Film Category, became the talk of the town when Eiko ISHIBASHI, who was in charge of the music, gave a live performance to accompany the screening. In addition, a pre-event titled “Filmmakers ’ Homecoming ” was held at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya from November 3 to 13th, showing 12 films. From November 17 to 18th, three films were screened at a special event featuring director João César Monteiro at the French Cultural Centre in Athens.
