Profile

Tokyo Biennale
The Tokyo Biennale is an international art festival held every two years. In this project, artists from a wide range of fields, both Japanese and foreign, will deeply penetrate Tokyo's city, utilize various local resources (Public spaces, historic buildings, rivers, etc.), and work with local residents on projects that decipher the local climate, history, and culture, creating opportunities to think about regional issues and the future. While organically cooperating with a wide range of related fields such as tourism, community development, welfare, education, industry, and international exchange, the city aims to enliven the region with residents and visitors from outside the city, and to achieve long-term regional development. After a conceptual exhibition in 2018 and a planned exhibition in 2019, the first Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021 was held in 2021.
