Business Overview
This is a regular concert by Reigakusha with the theme of Wang Zhoujingun, who married the Xiongnu king, Hukanjasanyu, during the time of the Former Han and Yuan Emperors and was handed down as the heroine of tragedy. In addition to “Takitoku, ” a courageous piece of court music derived from Xiongnu King Nichiyuu, who lived in the same era as Wang Zhaogun, and“ Wang Zhaogun, ” a short piece of orchestral music, we performed “Minghui Kyoku, ” a small piece about Wang Zhaogun by Harunao Izao (commissioned premiere), and“ Kukanjazanziyu Wang Zhaogun Hitotsuwa, ” composed by Yuyasu Shiba (guest star: Ayumi Shimonoto), in which a song is an important element. Through the history and legends of the western region of Asia, which is one of the roots of gagaku, we tried to illuminate the charm of gagaku that has been passed down over a long time from many different perspectives, not only through classical works but also through modern gagaku works based on classical gagaku styles and new works by modern composers.
