Business Overview
This festival gathers small pieces of performing arts from Japan and overseas that everyone can enjoy together, from preschoolers to adults, regardless of age, language or nationality. During the festival, there were workshops for children by foreign circus artists, workshops for students, exhibitions of illustrations and video works, and a "Book Rakuichi" where 12 secondhand bookstores in Tokyo gathered to sell picture books, secondhand books, and miscellaneous goods. [NPO Theater Creation Network]
A non-profit organization that engages in activities in the fields of culture, human resource development, and theater education in public theaters and aims to contribute to the revitalization of citizens' cultural activities from the local community to throughout Japan. It was established in July, Heisei 17 (2005) with the participation of experts in various fields such as local government cultural policy consultants, public theater operators and producers, theater technicians and actors, mainly playwrights living in Suginami Ward. The president is Makino Nozomi, a playwright and director. As a designated manager of Suginami Ward for 15 years, the management and operation of Za Koenji has been handled by a dedicated team consisting of experts from each department of the facility and the business, and has attracted much attention as a model case of hall and theater management by an art NPO, which is rare in Japan.
