The wives of ambassadors from various countries also participated in the event, and by arranging flowers in the image of their country, we provided them with an opportunity to feel the culture of each country. After speeches and ribbon-cutting by the wife of Minister for Foreign Affairs Yuko Hayashi, the wife of the Ambassador of Angola, the President of Ikebana International Headquarters, and the President of Ikebana International Tokyo Branch, the President of the Tokyo Branch held a demonstration of Ikebana with students from the flower arrangement club of Tokyo Metropolitan Setagaya Sogo High School and the son of the Ambassador of Tunisia. At the same time as the ikebana demonstration, calligrapher Katsusuke Miike performed calligraphy. A workshop on ikebana and calligraphy was held with Mr. Riji Otsuka, the head of the Koryu Katabamikai, Mr. Shouei Fujisawa, the head of the Kado Sosho school, and calligrapher Katsusuke Miike as instructors.
