Business Overview
Ryogoku Art Festival (RAF for short) is a music festival set in downtown Ryogoku. RAF was established in 2015 as a project to challenge the possibilities of diverse piano music. The artistic director changes every year, making it a festival of unique two-piano music. In this year's project, Asako Miyaki, a composer and spatial sound writer, was invited as artistic director, and the possibility of piano music and the possibility of Monten Hall as a space was explored by using a Steinway piano installed in the hall and two pianos created virtually using technology. Titled "Virtual Communities: Echolalia, Topophilia" the concert and symposium will be held in a hybrid of streaming and in-person at the venue, with an immersive environment using multi-speakers at the venue and on-demand viewing using VR video and virtual surround sound at the streaming. Three programs were held. Since its opening in 1989, Monchu Ceiling Hall, the predecessor of Ryogoku Monten Hall, has enthusiastically introduced and performed various music and performances from traditional to pioneering modern music. Under the theme of "Traditional and Modern," it strives to provide high-quality musical experiences and cultivate a wide audience.
