Business Overview

"Stilllive" is a performance art platform established by Yuki Kobayashi in 2019. The participating artists are from different genres and come together through the common language of "body" with the aim of cross-cutting activities, and engage in workshops and shows every year. This time, Stilllive: Performance Art Summit, Tokyo 2021-2022 was held as follows: "Hygiene, Transformation, and Hospitality" in October 2021, and "Parallel Fluxorum: Conviviality Session," "Aliens Normal: Evolution of the Planetary City," and "Awakening and Enchantment: Dialogue with the Unseen" in March 2022, the fourth time the Summit was held, to deepen the discussion on the current position of Stilllive as a platform, with the theme of "Tribute of Performance Anthology," referring to the 1960s, which had a great influence on avant-garde expression in contemporary art, music, and theater. Since the 2000s, there has been active discussion of the “performative turn, ” which refers to the tendency of contemporary art and performing art to mutually expand, and the genres, expressive methods, and practices faced with collectivity in the ’ 60s are worthy of reference now that there are restrictions on gathering. In a way that reciprocates with past performances, it temporarily bundles together all the subjects and intersections of expression represented by the community named Stilllive. The meaning of Stilllive as a place for collective collection may have been glimpsed through this practice. Based on these themes, we were able to reconsider the current form of performance, take on new forms of expression based on our activities over the past two years, and attempt to expand the possibilities of future performance expression.
