Business Overview

This festival was started by documentary filmmakers to express what the existing media cannot convey. A screen was set up in an izakaya in the town, and the people who made it, the people who served it, and the people who watched it mixed together to present ideas and actions for the next society. In the past two years, divisions and intolerance have spread among people amid the prolonged pandemic. Documentum wanted to create an opportunity for each of us to regain "tolerance" by resisting this trend and presenting diverse ways of living, choices, and ways of thinking through documentaries. This time, we heard a variety of voices, including Yasutomo Watanabe, who calls for suicide prevention in a sea of trees, Takamatsu Gushiken, who collects remains in Okinawa, Mayumi Tsuchiya and Ayano Kanzaki, who ask questions about being expected to be feminine, Kurds who complain about the Ushiku Immigration Control, and reports from Myanmar and Afghanistan, who are confronting the government.
