Business Overview

Yusuke Asai, Natsuki Takayama, Erina Matsui and Goro Murayama are members of the artist collective Parnassus Pond, which seeks to create collaborative works that take advantage of the neighborhood and revitalize local culture throughout the year. In 2021, he planned and held the exhibition "Ark Swimming in the Mountains" between Rokko and Ikebukuro in TURNER GALLERY. TURNER GALLERY is a gallery operated by Turner Color Co., Ltd. in Minami-Nagasaki, Toshima-ku, and is an important communication base for Parnassus Pond. In this exhibition, a group of works created while staying at the former Maya Kanko Hotel, which is famous as the "Queen of Ruins" and was built at the same time as Ikebukuro Montparnasse, stained glass made temporarily in the round window of the modernist style, photographic drawings simulating people terrified by the ruins, photographic works by the photographer Fumika Endo, and paintings drawn on canvas with water from rain. Also, during the exhibition, as an attempt to connect Ikebukuro Montparnasse with the original Montparnasse of Paris, a conversation with Ms. Atsumi, who is active in the woodblock print studio idem with a history of more than 100 years, was recorded.

The artist collective Pondparnasse was formed in 2020 by artists Yusuke Asai, Natsuki Takayama, Erina Matsui and Goro Murayama who happened to gather in the area formerly called Ikebukuro Montparnasse (Chihaya-cho, Shiina-cho and Minami-Nagasaki). Referring to the mythology of Mount Parnassus, which is the origin of the word Montparnasse, and the historical geopolitics of Ikebukuro Montparnasse, they continue to work with the aim of creating a new regional culture of Tokyo and joint production utilizing the neighborhood.
