Business Overview

“Portrait of Japan ” is a photo award project that uses the power of portrait photography to capture portraits of people who make up modern Japan. As a Japanese version of the photo award "Portrait of Britain" which is operated by the British media "1854" which publishes the magazine "British Journal of Photography" which has the oldest history in the photojournalism field, 5 photographers Takashi Homma, Mari Katayama, Helen van Meene, Yoshiyuki Okuyama and Alec Soss are invited as judges, and portrait photos are widely accepted from the general public. The subjects of the examination are portraits of people based in Japan and people based overseas who have a connection to Japan, taken after 2020. Each of the 5 judges will select one item, and each of the 5 winners will receive 100,000 yen. 50 winning entries, including the Grand Prix, will be announced on a special website in mid-August. In addition, with the cooperation of MC Decor Co., Ltd., from the end of August to the beginning of September, the works will be displayed at outdoor signages in various places in Tokyo, including the Shibuya area, and leaflets containing the winning works will be produced.
