Business Overview
It was planned as a film festival to introduce a wide range of visual expression, focusing on non-commercial works that have limited screening opportunities. The screening program consisted of the East Asia Experimental Competition, which introduced the latest trends in the field of film in East Asia, the Experimental Panorama and Filmmakers in Focus, which were invited to participate. In the special feature, we introduced active independent film screening organizations, and we also screened films with performances, considering the screening of films as live. In addition, a workshop was held in conjunction with the screening program to deepen the understanding of the film, and a symposium was held to raise issues concerning the current situation of images.

In September 1971, he founded the Underground Center as a community of individual filmmakers. In March 1972, the film began to be screened regularly at Teiken Saijikan in Shibuya Ward. Renamed Image Forum in January 1977. In addition to establishing the Image Forum Image Research Institute as a base for image education, it also distributes image works. In 1981, the 'Experimental Film Festival' was held. The "Image Forum Festival" was launched in 1987 and continues to this day.
