Business Overview

In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, this subsidy project has been suspended.

Radio France's folk music label, Ocola, was the earliest record collection of its kind, and contains many valuable recordings that have been considered essential resources for folk music lovers and researchers. In this project, three Japanese musicians, including Kuroda Suzon, an up-and-coming shakuhachi player who represents Japan, will record and perform for "Okora" in France. The concert will be held at the Paris Theatre Espas Cardin, which has a reputation for presenting a variety of new music that crosses genres. With the cooperation of Radio France and Paris City Theatre, two of the most influential organizations in the field of music in France, which has a deep knowledge of traditional Japanese culture, this project will further stimulate the interest of French music lovers and lovers of Japanese culture in traditional Japanese music. This project is expected to make a significant contribution not only to the enrichment of folk music materials in France, but also to future cultural exchanges between Japan and France. The three performers in this performance are a trio of members of the "Japanese Music Quartet," a group in Japan that is focusing on commissioning new works and world premieres, as well as exploring and revising classical sankyoku and existing modern Japanese music quartets.
