Business Overview

Performing arts professionals from Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia gathered in Hue City, Vietnam for three days to discuss social issues and the role of cultural arts from the perspective of Asian women and performing arts. In Vietnam, where restrictions on cultural and artistic activities are strict, the exhibition was held at restaurants and other venues, where works were performed, projects were introduced, roundtable discussions were held, and tours were held to exchange with local artists. Even in countries and regions where international conferences for performing and contemporary arts are not held and it is difficult to have free expression and dialogue, I was able to create a new model of how artists and experts from multiple countries can have dialogue and talk about art, and how local artists can be involved.

Profile

[Asian Women's Performing Arts Congress Executive Committee]
It began at the end of 2012 with the encouragement of Shiratama Hitsuya and Mikuni Yanaihara. Inspired by the activities of the Asian Women's Theater Conference organized by the late Koharu Kisaruki and Risei Kishida in the 1980s, it is a collective for "Asia," "women," and "performing arts" with new goals.
The goal of the activity is to draw a map of Asian women's performing arts, which is still lacking in information, through making works with Asian women performing artists. Having the opportunity to hear the voices of women in the performing arts and from other professions and positions. And we need to develop an organic platform for thinking about them.
