FY 2017 Tokyo Culture Program Grant: Support for Future Proposing Projects

Business Overview

Playable City Tokyo 2018 is a program to research the creative appeal of Tokyo as it changes toward the future from an international perspective, and to create ideas for new relationships between people and cities in future cities. Two creatives from the UK will be invited to two residencies in Tokyo. Through interaction with Japanese artists and technologists, and through exposure to Tokyo's city, history, culture, and advanced Japanese technologies, we will materialize playful ideas that enrich people's experiences in Tokyo's public spaces. The results of the residency will be presented at Making the City Playable 2018, a creative international conference considering the future of cities with the keyword "Play" to be held in Tokyo in September 2018. In collaboration with the global creative producer development program run by Watershed, UK, we will hold a one-day networking forum for creative producers working in various fields in Japan. In addition to exploring the ideal form of creative producers that are needed in the world today, the conference aims to build a network among participants, and provides a forum for exchanging opinions with creative producers active in various fields around the world.
